"Alice" was the "name" of a girl that the Mad Hatter on Christmas Eve. She had been abducted to fulfill his delusions of being the Alice in Wonderland character of the same name.

Biography[]

Batman: Arkham Origins[]

At some point before or during Christmas Eve, the girl was abducted by Jervis Tetch, a neuroscientist who suffered from delusions of being the Madd Hatter from Alice in Wonderland. During her time under the Mad Hatter, he brainwashed her, dressed her in an outfit that resembled the titular character from Alice in Wonderland, and gave her the name "Alice". Hugo Strange indicated that she was not the first of Tetch's victims, with a girl called Stephanie Williams being the first "Alice" he captured and murdered.

On the night itself, Tetch lured the masked vigilante Batman shortly after his investigation of the Lacey Towers Murders, hoping to brainwash him into protecting "Alice". During the call, the girl interrupted her capturer to call for Batman's help, but ended up silenced by the Mad Hatter. After Batman arrived at Tetch's Hat Shop and escaped his brainwashing measures, Tetch held the girl hostage and threatened to kill her if Batman didn't leave. However, the Dark Knight outsmarted the Hatter by throwing a Reverse Batarang, causing Tetch to release "Alice" and allowing the vigilante to subdue him.

Despite being saved, "Alice" was left traumatized by the incident. Though Batman promised she'd be safe and the police would pick her up, she told Batman in a terrified tone that it wouldn't be safe for her and that Tetch was still dangerous. The girl was presumably taken and cared by the police, though her later fate is unknown.
