Batman Beyond was a proposed live action follow up from Joel Schumacher's Batman & Robin. The film was toyed with in 2000 and 2001, even having a first draft written, but was ultimately left unmade leaving the franchise further in limbo until being rebooted in 2005 with Batman Begins.

PlotEdit

The film was to be set in the not too distant future showing Terry McGinnis becoming Batman under the tutelage of an elderly Bruce Wayne. apparently the character Ace the Bat-Hound also featured in a prominent fashion.

ProductionEdit

Co-creators of the television show Batman Beyond, Paul Dini and Alan Burnett pitched the idea of a live action Batman Beyond to Warner Bros. and DC Comics. Remember the Titans director Boaz Yakin, a fan of the show, expressed interest and intended to direct. He, Dini and Burnett wrote a first draft of the film in July 2001. However the project gradually fell away and Boaz moved on to other films leaving the film ultimately unproduced.[1] Following the finale of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy, a Batman Beyond film was rumored and speculated at until the announcement that DC's sequel to Man of Steel would feature a rebooted Batman.
