"Close Before Striking: Act 2"Edit

Scarface and the Ventriloquist hide from the Batman who is tearing through their operations in a violent manner. This worries Nightwing, who thinks the death of one of Batman's alter egos has affected the man for the worse psychologically; he fears that Batman may be becoming Matches. Batman then closes in on Scarface and the Ventriloquist, and confronts them first as the vigilante and then as Matches himself. He comes so close to killing the Ventriloquist, but is jogged into sanity by seeing the note scrawled in Malone's matchbook - 'Remember who you are.' He still kills Matches' killer, but does so by burning the Scarface dummy rather than shooting its operator.
