The Batpoon was a miniature harpoon gun used by Batman and Robin. Created in the Dynamic Duo's early days, it would fire a harpoon and cable to climb or swing over to objects. The gadget served as one of the precursor to the Grapple Guns used in recent years.

The name derives from combination of both the "Bat" prefix and "harpoon" (sometimes referred to as a "poon"). In recent years, the name has become a joke due to the slang usage of the term.
