Mindy Newell's origin where Selina is discarded by Stan and comforted by an alleycat while laying in the street is combined with the Batman Returns origin where she falls into the alley and is inspected by numerous alleycats. Newell's orphan childhood is retained but Frank Miller's prostitution/dominatrix period from Year One is discarded. The family friendly secretarial occupation from the movie is used instead.
