Charles McKeown is a British actor and writer. McKeown wrote part of the screenplay for Batman. He wrote the script (in particular the final scenes set in the belfry) while the film was being shot at Pinewood Studios along with Warren Skaaren and Jonathan Gems, since original screenwriter Sam Hamm couldn't participate at that time due to a writer's strike.

He wasn't credited for his work on Batman and this decision was considered unfair by director Tim Burton.

McKeown is best known for his collaborations with Terry Gilliam, for which he wrote films like Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus.

As an actor he has worked numerous times with some of the members of the Monty Python group, in particular with Michael Palin, Terry Jones, John Cleese and, of course, Terry Gilliam. He had roles in Time Bandits, Brazil, The Adventures of Baron Munchausen and Erik the Viking.
