Bartholomew "Bart" Magen also known as Doctor No-Face is a Silver Age Batman Villain who was obsessed with destroying and/or mutilating representations of faces due to his own lack of one.
History[]
Earth One[]
Bartholomew Magen was a criminal who impersonated a scientist named Dr. Paul Dent; the inventor of a device intended to erase facial scars. However upon testing the device on himself, Dent's creation erased Magen's entire face.
Taking the alias of the Fantastic Dr. No-Face, Bartholomew decided to become a super criminal intent on destroying the faces of statues and paintings due to his newfound hatred of faces; all while attempting to frame the real Dr. Paul Dent for the crimes.
Bart was eventually defeated by Batman and Robin who discovered his secret identity. This would be the character's only appearance in American comics however he would be featured in the Jiro Kawata Bat-Manga (where he was referred to as Doctor Faceless) and in the Bureau of Missing Villains.
Other Appearances[]
- Batman: The Brave and the Bold: Dr. No-Face briefly appeared in the show Batman the Brave and the Bold in the episode A Bat Divided, where he is seen in a bar with other silver age super villains.
Notes and trivia[]
- Jeremiah Arkham would hallucinate an Arkham inmate called, "No-Face" who had a similar, expressionless face to Magan. This figment was called Alessio Morandi and was a wealthy Venetian who lost much of his face as a child while wearing an ornamental mask which caused most of his face to be removed and recreated with plastic surgery.
