Wayne Enterprises is the company owned by Bruce Wayne that deals with all his international operations.

History[]

Batman Begins[]

After the deaths of Thomas and Martha Wayne, boardsman William Earle took over Wayne Enterprises. During their funeral, he assured Bruce Wayne that the company would be in good hands until he was old enough to claim it.

However, after Bruce's disappearance for many years, Earle declared him legally dead, using the opportunity to take over the company completely. During that time, he shied away from "what Thomas Wayne would have done" and focused on heavy weapons manufacturing. The company's headquarters was in the old masonry skyscraper Wayne Tower that was the center for Gotham City's rapid transit and water networks.

When Bruce finally returned to Gotham, he did not show obvious interest in reclaiming the family business. Instead, he chose to work in the Applied Sciences Division, and used it and his coworker, Lucius Fox, to provide him with high-tech equipment. Bruce took gear that was originally made for the U.S. Military, including body armor and a prototype armored vehicle, and used them to create the equipment that he needed for his war on crime. Before Ra's al Ghul's attack on Gotham, Earle transitioned Wayne Enterprises' in a public corporation to increase his financial gain.

However, Bruce purchased many of the public shares through dummy corporations, becoming a majority shareholder in Wayne Enterprises. Very quickly, he began reforming the company and installed Fox as the active CEO. Bruce also removed Earle from the company, allowing Lucius to return the favor of the announcement. After the incident, the Wayne Enterprises headquarters moved to a building in Gotham Downtown.
