Harvey Dent appears in the television series Gotham as a young assistant district attorney in Gotham City who becomes the ally of James Gordon in the first two seasons.

Behind the Scenes[]

Nicholas D'Agosto made his debut as Harvey Dent in the first season of Gotham in a recurring capacity, debuting in the titular episode "Harvey Dent". Similar to several other characters in the show Dent was drastically aged up to adulthood so he was older than the then 12 year old Bruce Wayne, even though most media depict them around the same age.

When Gotham received a renewal for a second season D'Agosto was promoted to the regular cast. Despite this development, he only appeared in three out of the twenty-two episodes, with Dent mainly remaining off-screen for the majority of the season. D'Agosto still received a credit for every episode. Following the second season Dent never received a further appearance of a mention, with D'Agosto moving onto other projects such as the television series Trial & Error from 2017 to 2018.

Due to being absent for the remainder of the show, Dent was never developed into his comic book supervillain identity Two-Face. Prior to the show's conclusion in 2019 producer John Stephens commented that they were unable to come up with a storyline involving Dent turning into Two-Face due to the character succeeding Batman, and that they considered introducing a prototype Two-Face character although this didn't come to fruition. Despite this though, Dent's appearances in season 1 alluded to his future as Two-Face such as some scenes depicting his face half cast in shadow, as well as Dent suddenly losing his cool and acting aggressive, although the reasons for such behaviour was never explored.
