Joker's Balloons were used by the Joker to gas the crowds of Gotham City's citizens with Smylex during the planned attack on Gotham's 200th Anniversary's Parade. While a few citizens perished in the fumes, Batman prevented further casualties by dragging away the balloons in the Batwing and released them into the sky, much to the Joker's outrage who then shot his head henchman Bob in frustration.

Behind the Scenes[]
- In the original Sam Hamm script, Alexander Knox and Vicki project a makeshift Batsignal against a yellow oval on the clown balloon. This makes Batman realize the danger and gives him inspiration to create the Batsignal in the end, whereas in the film he just assumes that's what the Joker is planning when he sees them. In a 2014 interview, Hamm lamented the exclusion of the original Batsignal introduction, calling it "highly ingenious."[1]
