Killer Croc was a physically deformed criminal operating in Gotham City. He was an escaped inmate of Arkham, where Dr. Jonathan Crane experimented on him using his toxin to try and eradicate his fear of bats.
[edit] Biography
Killer Croc was originally an inmate at Arkham Asylum, who was born with a rare skin disorder that deformed him to look like a crocodile. He became an experiment subject for Jonathan Crane's (later to become known as the Scarecrow). Croc grew up in Arkham Asylum and was released when Ras' al Ghul's ninjas released him along with his inmates and the Scarecrow himself. Croc was one of the inmates to escape the incident in the narrows and joined a group of inmates that fled underground with the Scarecrow. There Scarecrow continued to experiment on Croc by injecting his Fear Toxin into parts of his body.
Later, Croc went berserk around town, killing many people. At the time his teeth was infected with the Scarecrow's toxin, leaving those who were injured infected with the toxin. Batman managed to trace Croc's crime to the sewer where he and the inmates were hiding. Batman journeyed into the sewers as he suspected the Scarecrow to be behind these crimes. Batman was then ambushed by Croc and was bitten by him, thus being infected by the toxin. Batman fought Croc and managed to stick a flash grenade in his mouth. The grenade went off in Croc's mouth and caused him to flee from the sewers. His current whereabouts are unknown. (According to the novelization of the anthology film of the same title. Killer Croc was captured by the Batman and was sent back to Arkham where he currently resides.)
[edit] Behind the scenes
[edit] Christopher Nolan Series
It is possible that Croc will appear in a possible Nolan film as he was seen fleeing from his fight with the Batman and has not been heard from since. It's also possible that his activity may result in the escape of the Scarecrow as Croc seemed to be somewhat loyal to Scarecrow (since he was willing to protect the base). In addition, Nolan did say that he would prefer to use villains who have not yet been done on screen and Croc is one of them (though Nolan also said he would not completely rule out doing already done villains). Overall, a story arc has already been set up for Croc, making him a possible villain for an upcoming sequel to The Dark Knight. However it is unlikely as his character wouldn't fit in with Nolan's realistic tone to the live action films.
