As reported by the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, the cast and crew of The Dark Knight Rises were welcomed last night in Pittsburgh by a Batsignal. This time it wasn't in the sky, but on the side of Downtown Highmark building on Pittsburgh's Fifth Avenue.
The signal is meant to coincide with the start of filming of Christopher Nolan's final Batman movie featuring Christian Bale. This is probably the biggest production ever (or at least in the last 20 years) to be filmed in the city, and the city hopes to benefit a lot from it. Kenneth R. Melani, president of Highmark, Inc. said:
- "To have our building featured is an honor not only because it is an anchor of the Pittsburgh skyline, but also because we are positioned at the gateway to the city's Cultural District and nothing could be more of a cultural attraction than a Hollywood film."
The movie, for which we all can't wait, will hit theaters on July 20, 2012.
