Vincent Schiavelli was an American character actor, who worked on stage, screen and television. He portrayed one of the Penguin's henchman, The Organ Grinder, in Batman Returns as well as Zatara in Batman: The Animated Series.


Schiavelli began his career as a film actor in 1971 with Taking Off. With this picture began a long collaboration with director Miloš Forman, appearing in One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975, with Jack Nicholson and Danny DeVito), Amadeus (1984), Valmont (1989), The People vs. Larry Flynt (1996) and Man on the Moon (1999).

He has appeared in other films like The Great Gatsby (1974), The Frisco Kid (1979), Night Shift (1982, with Michael Keaton), The Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai Across the 8th Dimension (1984), Ghost (1990) and Tomorrow Never Dies (1997).


Vincent Schiavelli died of lung cancer on December 26, 2005, aged 57, at his home in Polizzi Generosa, in Sicily, the town where his grandfather was born.
