Wingman is a superhero alias which has been held by three individuals in the DC universe. Wingman is a Batman-inspired hero who tends to have a resentful relationship with the Dark Knight and questionable morality.

History[]

Benedict Rundstrom[]

Golden Age (Earth Two)[]

Benedict Rundstrom was one of the many Batmen of All Nations trained by Batman with Benedict having been a vigilante in Sweden. When Batman believes he might need to retire, he chooses Wingman to be his successor only to go back on it when he realizes he won't retire.

Post-Crisis (New Earth)[]

Like his pre-crisis counterparts, Benedict Rundstrom was a Batman-inspired vigilante in Sweden where he fought the super-villain King Kraken. Wingman later became one of many vigilantes assembles by eccentric billionaire John Mayhew into the International Club of Heroes.

While most members of the team openly admitted to being inspired by Batman, Wingman rebuked this and claimed that he predated Batman and was the better superhero. Following the team's fallout, out of bitter jealousy Benedict sided with John against the other members of the team.

As John was secretly a member of the criminal-cult the Black Glove which the disassembled Batmen were posing a new threat to, Wingman hunted down and murdered his former comrades Legionary and Dark Ranger. When he tried to escape, he was murdered by his own accomplice to keep him quiet.

Jason Todd[]

After Bruce successfully urged Jason Todd (as Red Hood) to join Batman Incorporated, Jason takes up the alias of the deceased Wingman himself. Alongside him he had Damian Wayne as his sidekick under the alias of Redbird.

Willis Todd[]

In Prime Earth, after Willis Todd was sent to prison he was experimented on. After the prison was destroyed by Artemis of the Outlaws, Willis used his newfound powers and skills to take up the alias of Wingman and try to reconnect with his son Jason.

Wingman became a sort of bodyguard and enforcer for Jason when Jason overthrew the Penguin and took over the Iceberg Lounge with Jason not realizing Wingman was his father.
